When it comes to wedding receptions, small can be just as beautiful as we proved yesterday at Gate Street Barn, a beautiful wedding venue on the outskirts of Guildford, Surrey.
Katie and Joe's wedding was hastily rearranged at very short notice, just ahead of lockdown 2.0, and after a Sunday made very busy with re-arrangements and cooking we were pleased to be able to present their original menu and canapé choices and even included warm bacon baps to accompany hot whisky apple toddies as the evening drew to a close.
The couple chose to use Gate Street's newly refurbished bar area for their meal as they were keen to create a cosy, intimate dining space for their celebration meal for 13 guests.
The venue's lovely new rustic tables and cross backed chairs combined with our (socially distanced) table settings, candles and flowers from Rosie Orr certainly proved the perfect setting for Katie and Joe's menu:

Butternut squash soup with roasted spices and fresh coriander served with warm breads, mixed rolls and sea-salted butter Lamb two ways - rosemary and garlic marinated cutlets and a mini individual shepherds pie, braised petits pois with shallots, little gem and fresh mint, glazed baby carrots Chocolate profiteroles filled with whipped vanilla cream and served with warm chocolate fudge sauce Individual cheese plates with chutney, grapes, fresh figs and crackers served with an (optional!), glass of port
