Tandem has moved: a tour of our new home!

We are excited to announce that, finally, Tandem Catering has a new home and our move to our lovely new premises near Bramley, Surrey is almost complete (more decorating to follow but we couldn't resist sharing our progress thus far)!

Whilst 2020 has been a devastating time for the wedding and events industry, the silver lining for us has been to have time to focus on this exciting new project. Attempting to plan and equip our new space and move during peak wedding season would certainly have been a logistical challenge, but with the help of many friends and family (especially Chris Haslam from Chess Disco whose spacious van effectively transported one kitchen to another) we are finally in and loving our new kitchen, the spacious tasting room and office area.

Our Godalming kitchen has served Tandem so well for so many years and has been the engine that fuelled Tandem's growth from when our founder and owner Carole first moved to Godalming. We've loved welcoming hundreds of clients there over the years but as Tandem continued to grow, we finally outgrew our Godalming kitchen and begun the long search for Tandem's new home.

After many months of searching we were thrilled to be offered the perfectly sized unit in a convenient location, on the main A281 road, very close to Gate Street Barn, one of our busiest venues. We could see potential there for creating a lovely tasting and meeting room, an efficient modern commercial kitchen and a dedicated office area. We could envisage welcoming new and existing clients to discuss their events, choose their linens and glassware and finalise their menus. The sympathetically restored former wagon shed was to retain its original beams, stone walls and rustic charm, and the glass wall overlooking the fields beyond the kitchen would bring natural light into the kitchen.

We have already begun promising collaborations with our Whipley Manor neighbours, Taurus Wines, The Botanical Company, and Dunnocks Farm Shop and as Tandem settles happily into our new home we are excited for the future, with new plans in the pipeline including cookery classes, tasting events and much more!

Special thanks also to Crystal Hire for helping outfit our display cabinets, Rob Burress from Shooting Hip for these beautiful photos of our new home, all the team from Taurus Wines for always being on hand to help with moving teething problems, Gate street Barn for their continued support and Whipley Manor Farm for making it all possible!
